No fluff. No filler. Just the real work.
This week we're starting at the foundation because I see too many entrepreneurs skipping steps, building on shaky ground, and wondering why their brand isn't landing the way they want it to.
So let's fix that…
THIS WEEK'S MEMO: Brand Building Basics
YOUR BRAND IS NOT YOUR LOGO
Let's get this out of the way first. Your logo, your colors, your fonts — those are brand assets. Your brand is the feeling people get when they encounter your business. It's the promise you make and whether you keep it. Before you spend another dollar on design, get clear on what experience you want people to have.
Ask yourself:
What do I want people to feel, say, and do after engaging with my brand?
CLARITY BEFORE CONTENT
One of the biggest mistakes I see? Entrepreneurs posting content every day without a clear brand position. You can be consistent and still be confusing. Before you create another piece of content, nail down these three things:
→ Who you serve (specifically)
→ What problem you solve (concisely)
→ Why you're the one to solve it (confidently)
When those three are locked in, your content starts to work for you — not the other way around.
Ask yourself:
What do I want people to feel, say, and do after engaging with my brand?
BRAND VOICE = BUSINESS ASSET
How you communicate is just as important as what you communicate. Your brand voice should be consistent across every touchpoint from your website, emails, social media captions to your proposals and even how you respond to DMs. Inconsistency creates confusion, and confused people don't buy.
Pro tip: Write down 3–5 words that describe how your brand should sound. Refer back to them every time you create content.
STOP BUILDING FOR EVERYONE
A brand that speaks to everyone speaks to no one.
The more specific your positioning, the more magnetic your brand becomes to your targeted audience. Niching down doesn't shrink your audience, it sharpens your message so the right people find you faster. The goal isn't to be seen by the most people, but to be unforgettable to the right ones.
MOGUL MOVE OF THE WEEK
Audit your brand this week! Pull up your website, your latest 9 Instagram posts, and your most recent email, offer or promotion.
Ask yourself honestly: Is this consistent? Is this clear? Does this reflect the brand I'm building? Do I see areas that need repositioning?
Write down what's working and needs repositioning. Start there.
